Minimum of 3 hours per day working either 9-12, 10-1 or 1-4

Your role:

In this role, you will support the library service by providing patient, caring, and confidential digital support to library customers. You will be the first point of contact for visitors, actively engaging with them, and promoting the benefits of our online services to enhance customer access and foster self-reliance among residents.

You will model and demonstrate how to ‘get online’ to customers with limited digital skills.

You will meet and support customers digitally in a busy library environment.

About you:

You should be friendly, approachable, and willing to support a range of customers with their queries.

You need a good understanding of setting up and using email, websites, apps, and common software. Confidence in completing online forms and communicating with diverse users is essential.

Proactivity, good communication skills, and the ability to seek information independently to resolve inquiries are required.

About us:

Customer Services at Wigan Borough libraries deliver various community support services. You will work holistically with customers to access services that enable positive life changes, employment, health improvements, independence, and self-reliance.

Support and guidance will be provided by your branch manager, and there may be opportunities for alternative volunteering roles after a review period. As a digital volunteer, you will meet new people, enhance your digital skills, and develop communication and customer service skills beneficial for your future career.
