Overview
As a Maintenance Assistant at Leigh Sports Village, you\’ll be part of a hands-on team delivering reactive and planned maintenance across a major stadium and leisure complex. Supporting the Facilities Manager, you\’ll carry out essential repairs, respond to live operational issues, and help prepare the site for matchdays, events, and daily public use. This is a customer-facing role requiring teamwork, independence, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. You\’ll work closely with stadium staff and partners like Manchester United and Leigh Leopards, receiving full support and direction from the Facilities leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Carry out essential repairs and deliver reactive and planned maintenance across a major stadium and leisure complex.
- Support the Facilities Manager and respond to live operational issues.
- Help prepare the site for matchdays, events, and daily public use.
- Work closely with stadium staff and partners, receiving direction from the Facilities leadership team.
- Operate in a customer-facing role with teamwork, independence, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications and Skills
- General building or site maintenance experience, ideally within a stadium, sports venue, or large public site.
- Ability to work independently and within a team; respond quickly and calmly to live operational issues, particularly on matchdays and during events.
- Comfort working outdoors and across all areas of a stadium complex, including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
- Practical approach, strong communication skills, and working knowledge of health and safety.
About Leigh Sports Village and the Role
Leigh Sports Village is one of the UK\’s premier community sports and events complexes, home to Manchester United Women, Leigh Leopards, and a wide range of elite, grassroots, and community events. The site includes a 12,000-capacity stadium, elite training facilities, and public sports amenities. Our Facilities Team is central to ensuring the venue remains clean, safe, and fully operational 365 days a year. This role offers variety, responsibility, development opportunities, and the chance to support a venue enjoyed by thousands every week.
Salary and Hours
Salary: Grade 5, £26,824 – £29,540 per annum. £13.90 – £15.31 per hour
