About The Role

As a Stockyard Operative at our Smeed Dean site, you will be fully trained to become hands‑on with the day‑to‑day operations of our manufacturing site; operating various equipment and forklifts whilst ensuring high levels of health and safety at all times. We will provide you with full training and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to enable you to safely and effectively work as a Stockyard Operative where you will:

  • Assist in the day‑to‑day running of the distribution function with the stockyard
  • Provide a helpful and efficient service to our haulage partners, customers and field Sales
  • Work closely with our distribution teams to facilitate the timely picking, packing and wrapping of all products prior to collection
  • Maintain an excellent standard of housekeeping in accordance with our PIP targets, highlighting any concerns using the quality and hazard reporting process
  • Actively take part in any training to enhance your role
  • Continually challenge the status quo to drive further improvements
  • Operating Forklift Truck

Hours of Work

7.00am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday

About You

  • Current / valid RTITB, ITSSAR, NPORS or CPCS forklift truck license with recent driving experience within the last six months
  • Previous manufacturing experience working with machinery
  • You’ll enjoy working in a busy environment where you can roll your sleeves up and get hands‑on
  • Flexible and able to adapt to the different daily priorities in the factory which help us run efficiently as well as willingness to work overtime
  • Safety is our biggest priority, so you’ll be committed to safe working and have good general safety awareness
  • Able to work to production targets
  • Ability to understand work instructions (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Team player with the ability to work unsupervised
  • Flexible approach to duties
  • Physically fit as the role involves significant manual handling and working outdoors in all weathers
  • Good literacy - as there is some paperwork involved
  • Excellent time keeping

  • Experience in a factory/manufacturing environment is desirable, but not essential, as full training is provided.
