About the role
As a Maintenance Manager you will be leading and supporting the site maintenance team, acting as a trusted technical lead and ensuring safe, reliable and high-quality performance across all plant equipment. You will work as part of the leadership team, developing practical technical plans that support continuous improvement, innovation, and cost control at the Todhills site.
Duties also include:
- Leading and managing the on-site maintenance team to improve equipment reliability and performance
- Developing and delivering preventative maintenance programmes
- Creating and maintaining the maintenance strategy for the plant
- Managing and developing the engineering stores system
- Supporting the development and delivery of capital expenditure projects
- Working closely with production to improve safety, quality and output
- Ensuring all health, safety and environmental standards are met and followed
This role plays a key part in helping us deliver consistent, reliable manufacturing performance, supporting our customers with high-quality building materials and contributing to the long-term success of the business. You will have opportunities to share your expertise to strengthen engineering capability on site and beyond.
This position is based at our Todhills site, near Bishop Auckland, Crook, Willington, and Spennymoor, and commutable from Durham, Middlesbrough, and Darlington via local road networks. Due to the site location access to your own vehicle is essential. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm.
About you
Essential
- A relevant mechanical or electrical engineering qualification
- Strong health and safety focus with IOSH Managing Safety
- Experience leading maintenance or engineering teams in a continuous manufacturing environment
- Strong experience using computerised maintenance management systems
- Sound knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, hydraulics and pneumatics
- Strong people management, planning and organisational skills
Desirable
- Experience with Siemens S7 PLC systems
- Experience working with robotics or automated systems
- Strong experience developing best practice engineering stores
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage change
