As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (known internally as a Maintenance Fitter) at our Warnham site, you will be part of our hands-on inhouse team who keep the plant running by ensuring the equipment runs smoothly. From troubleshooting to planned preventive maintenance (PPM), you will be hands-on with specialist machinery, ensuring everything runs like clockwork. It is a dynamic role where problem-solving skills and technical expertise are used daily, and you will be a key player contributing to the efficiency and reliability of our production processes. Our engineers have a varied role, involving maintenance skills as a fitter, fabricator, welder, and service engineer.

Hours of Work: 6.00pm to 6.00am on a 4 on/4 off shift pattern.

Responsibilities:

  • Be mechanically biased with experience in manufacturing / factory environments (minimum level 3 qualification in an Engineering discipline).
  • Carry out troubleshooting, planned preventive maintenance (PPM), and reactive maintenance on equipment to keep it running efficiently.
  • Work hands-on with specialist machinery and contribute to the efficiency and reliability of production processes.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety best practices and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and adapt to changing daily priorities to support production continuity.
  • Perform duties with a hands-on, flexible approach suitable for a busy manufacturing setting.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum level 3 qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience working in manufacturing / factory environments.
  • Strong health and safety knowledge and commitment to safe working practices.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Diagnostics experience of hydraulics, pneumatic systems, and drive chain fault finding.
  • Bearing fitting / alignment experience.
  • Desirable: completed hands-on apprentice training programme.
  • Desirable: HNC or HND qualification (or equivalent).
  • Desirable: experience in heavy industry manufacturing; knowledge of cutting & grinding regulations; arc & MIG welding / basic fabrication; electrical control systems experience.
