About the Role

As an Import Team Leader you will play a key strategic role within our Distribution function. You will be overseeing and coordinating import operations to ensure stock availability at UK port locations in alignment with customer demand and service expectations. Alongside this you will be leading a small team of Import Controllers, who will help you to execute our import strategy, maintain optimal inventory levels, and drive supply chain efficiency. The team manage end-to-end import activities, from order placement and coordination with 3PL partners, to port stock management. Their work ensures timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of goods.

Duties are varied and also include:

  • Oversee stock replenishment and manage inventory integrity at port locations
  • Act as the primary point of contact for import operations
  • Coordinate product collections, customs clearance, shipping, and delivery through SAP and associated systems.
  • Monitor and control import-related costs, ensuring supplier invoices are validated and processed in line with contractual terms.
  • Maintain high standards of stock quality and availability
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with international Wienerberger sites and external supply chain partners.
  • Responsible for import logistics across all UK port locations.
  • Accountable for ensuring delivery performance
  • Key contributor to the company’s continuous improvement initiatives and change management efforts

Hours: 9am to 5pm. Mon to Fri

About You

You will be an experienced import or logistics professional who has either managed a small team, or has the right skills/behaviours to step up into a leadership position (coaching, addressing performance, motivating, supporting). You will also have:

  • Strong knowledge of multi-modal shipping operations (coaster, ferry, flat)
  • Proven expertise in SAP and Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience building relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Agile approach, can adapt to changing priorities and make decisions under pressure.
  • Understanding of customs compliance and international trade procedures.
