Come and join us as a Technical Officer at our Sale office in Greater Manchester. Part of Wienerberger UK & Ireland, you’ll be joining Building Product Design, a leader in the fields of roofing ventilation, construction membranes, building ventilation, and specialised building products.

About the role

We are currently recruiting for two Technical Officers to join our technical team based in Sale. The technical team provides support and technical advice to our internal and external customers related to the technical elements of our product range. This includes reviewing construction plans/drawings and providing design and technical advice to customers. The role can be fast-paced and varied, as part of your work will support commercial enquiries which require a quick turnaround to secure the sales/orders. One position will focus on specification support, the other on compliance activities.

Both positions involve:

  • Delivering front-line technical support to customers and internal teams
  • Managing/resolving customer queries and complaints
  • Preparing and interpreting thermal transmittance calculations (U-value) in accordance with BR443 and BS EN ISO 6946 standards
  • Conducting condensation risk analyses in accordance with BS 5250 and BS EN 13788
  • Performing take-off and quotation services for the cavity tray product range
  • Developing ventilation strategies for residential and commercial properties
  • Handling special enquiries for non-standard product requests
  • Logging and monitoring customer enquiries, identifying trends and potential issues

The specification role includes:

  • Providing specification support to internal Roofing and Construction sales teams
  • Managing and maintaining NBS specifications and BIM content for the product range

The compliance role includes:

  • Maintaining and updating product documentation
  • Supporting the expansion of the company’s Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) through data capture and product assessments

Both roles will be office-based, so the support you provide is typically via phone/email or video call, but some travel will occasionally be required to assist on projects and site visits.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm

About you

You will be a confident technical administrator with strong attention to detail and experience providing technical support to colleagues/customers via phone/email/in person. You will have experience in a similar role within the construction sector, ideally for a construction products manufacturing business. You will also have:

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and construction products
  • Good numerical skills
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Team working skills
  • Comfortable adapting and reacting to changing priorities
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite (e.g. Outlook, Teams, Excel)
  • AutoCAD / Revit experience desirable
