Overview Widener University is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Facilities Support Services.
This role provides operational, administrative, and strategic leadership to the Facilities Management Department and institutional colleagues across multi-campus projects, daily operations, and specialized initiatives.
The Director represents the Executive Director, directs external vendor negotiations, engages internal and external constituents, and champions customer service excellence and operational problem-solving.
The position also architects and optimizes the department’s administrative frameworks, manages fiscal budgets, and drives continuous improvement to elevate quality, efficiency, and the customer experience.
About the Department Facilities Management staff are responsible for providing safe and beautiful facilities that support the academic mission and campus operations.
The Facilities Management Mission is to continuously improve the services we provide and make the experience of students, faculty, staff, and visitors the best it can possibly be.
Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to) Essential Duties Strategic Leadership excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to communicate concepts and processes clearly and effectively in oral or written form.
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with a full range of campus and external constituents.
Service focus - dedicated to meeting the expectations of the University by maintaining effective relationships with interested parties.
Flexible hours as dictated by the needs of business for projects and meetings.
Preferred Bachelor’s Degree AND Ten (10+) years progressive experience in Facilities Management or related field.
Experience in higher education setting working with faculty, staff, and students to provide excellent customer service.
Knowledge of modern Facilities Management trends.
Experience in developing, maintaining and operating a modern comprehensive work order system.
Physical Requirements Requires valid driver’s license with evidence of insurability.
Regular walking, standing, sitting, and occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling to support daily facility operations.
Must be able to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
Extended work hours are required during peak operational periods, emergencies, or special University events.
Expected to assist in or oversee snow removal activities to ensure safe and accessible campus grounds during winter weather.
This role is required to serve in an on-call capacity.
