We're looking for a passionate Digital Trading Manager to grow our online sales across wickes.co.uk, our apps, and in-store digital touchpoints on a fixed term contract basis for 12 months. You’ll be the expert executing our trading plan, delivering top‑notch web merchandising, and turning performance data into real, impactful growth for the categories you look after, with a focus on our Design & Installation (D&I) audience as well as flooring and tiling.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading the Digital Trading Plan: You'll deliver the trading plan for your categories across the website and digital ecosystem, working closely with our Commercial colleagues on promotions, range reviews, and newness.
- Optimising the Online Experience: You will manage tools and techniques to continuously improve website performance and boost sales. This includes everything from site search and visual merchandising to product bundling, cross‑selling, and social proofing.
- Perfecting the Customer Journey: Regularly walk through customer paths using analytics and insights to pinpoint and fix friction points.
- Building Strong Stakeholder Relationships: Developing an effective partnership with our Buying and Planning teams (Commercial colleagues), sharing performance data and insights to collaboratively develop a digital growth strategy.
- Delivering Actionable Insights: You'll work closely with Commercial teams to understand what truly drives sales. You'll focus on key eCommerce KPIs (Inbound Traffic, Conversion Rate, Path to purchase) to provide clear, impactful reports and recommendations for specific interventions and testing.
- Managing and Developing Talent: You will manage one direct report, actively supporting their growth and ensuring they deliver on their objectives within the team.
What we’re looking for:
To succeed in the role we expect you’ll have around 6+ years Digital Trading Expertise. You’ll bring extensive, hands‑on experience in digital eCommerce and website trading, with a brilliant grasp of product discovery, visual merchandising, and the full range of key eCommerce KPIs (e.g., traffic, conversion, ATV, path to purchase). You’ll also be:
- A natural leader and collaborator
- Data-Driven and Strategic: You have a strategic and analytic mindset, proactively utilising data-driven insights to propose and drive effective actions and interventions.
- Able to evidence good working knowledge of web analytics (Google Analytics / GA4, Contentsquare or equivalent), Google Looker Studio, CMS systems, and specialist platforms for Product Discovery, Social Proofing, and Bundling (e.g., Bloomreach, Taggstar, Increasingly).
- Ideally you’ll have a curiosity and experience using AI tools to enhance productivity - but also as an enabler within the delivery of website performance (AI into action)
- A confident self‑starter, able to work collaboratively, drive your own work with minimal supervision, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
What can we offer you:
You’ll be supported with fantastic learning and development and have the opportunity to grow and develop your career with us. We’ll also equip you with a benefits package that includes:
- Competitive bonus
- Private Medical and Life Assurance
- Enhanced contributory pension scheme
- Colleague discount
- Discount platform including savings and cash back at numerous retailers, savings on gym membership, cycle-to-work scheme
