Are you a compassionate and resilient professional dedicated to the welfare of young people? We are seeking a proactive Safeguarding Officer to join our pastoral team, acting as a crucial support system for students and families to ensure every child is safe, supported, and ready to learn.
About the Role
In this vital role, you will work closely with the Safeguarding Manager to maintain a culture of vigilance and care across the academy. You will serve as a key point of contact for concerns, liaising with families, colleagues, and external agencies to provide both Early Help and statutory support. This is a hands-on position requiring sensitivity and confidence, where your actions will directly contribute to the safety and stability of our most vulnerable students.
Responsibilities
- Casework & Referrals: Respond to disclosures and welfare concerns by making appropriate referrals, ensuring accurate, secure records are maintained, and coordinating Early Help interventions.
- Multi-Agency Working: Represent the academy at strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings, contributing to assessments and ensuring agreed actions are implemented effectively.
- Family Outreach: Provide direct support to families, including conducting home visits to offer advice and strategies for resolving issues.
- Operational Support: Support the Safeguarding Manager with statutory compliance, staff training, and act as a primary source of advice for colleagues regarding child protection matters.
The successful candidate must hold specialist procedural knowledge of the role and have significant experience working with children or young people, preferably within a safeguarding or pastoral context.
