ROLE: Outdoor Sports Assistant

SALARY: WPT Band 3 £25185 - £25989 (£22182 - £22890 pro-rata)
CONTRACT: Permanent
HOURS: 37 hours, term time only plus all inset days. Part Time applications will also be considered.
Do you thrive in the open air and have a passion for adventure? We are looking for an energetic and reliable Outdoor Sports Assistant to help deliver inspiring outdoor learning experiences, supporting our students to build confidence, resilience, and teamwork skills through activity.
About the Role
As an Outdoor Sports Assistant, you will play a key role in the smooth running of our outdoor education provision. You will work alongside teachers and outdoor instructors to facilitate a range of activities, ensuring that equipment is safe and ready for use and that students are supported to get the most out of every session. This role requires a hands‑on approach, confidence around water, and a willingness to get involved in all aspects of outdoor adventure, from logistics to student engagement.
Responsibilities
- Equipment Management: Responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and storage of equipment, ensuring it is safe and ready for all outdoor adventure lessons.
- Teaching Support: Assist instructors during sessions by supporting student participation, implementing Individual Education Programmes (IEPs), and conducting assessments to monitor progress.
- Safety & Compliance: Apply good practice and safety measures (particularly for water sports) in line with National Governing Body standards, including providing First Aid.
- Enrichment: Contribute to the coordination of extra‑curricular activities and competitions, showing a willingness to support a wide variety of outdoor pursuits.
The successful candidate must hold an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
