About the Role
As an Early Years Practitioner, you will work as part of a dedicated team to support the delivery of high-quality Early Years Education and care. Under the guidance of a Teacher or Early Years Professional, you will play a pivotal role in creating a vibrant learning environment, tracking children's progress, and building strong relationships with families. Responsibilities
- Environment & Safety: Create and maintain a welcoming early years environment, ensuring all activities are set up and that materials and equipment are safe and clean.
- Learning & Development: Contribute to the planning of learning activities, assisting staff in delivery and adapting tasks to support each child's unique development needs.
- Assessment & Tracking: Work with individuals or small groups to monitor and report on responses to activities, contributing to assessment procedures and maintaining accurate routine records.
- Classroom Management: Support the Teacher/Early Years Professional to ensure activities run smoothly, promoting positive behaviour and handling any incidents promptly in line with trust policy.
- Inclusion & SEND Support: Provide feedback to the class teacher, contributing to the assessment of needs and the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Keyworker Duties: Act as a keyworker for designated children, establishing positive, trusted relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals.
- Cover Supervision: Provide short-term cover supervision for the class in the temporary absence of the Teacher or Early Years Professional.
- Wellbeing & Care: Attend to the personal, emotional, and social needs of the children to ensure a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment.
- Administrative Support: Carry out essential clerical duties to support the classroom teacher, including photocopying, laminating, and creating engaging pupil displays.
Qualifications
Essential: Full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years (e.g., NVQ Level 3, CACHE Level 3, or equivalent).
Experience: Proven experience working within an Early Years setting, with a solid understanding of the EYFS framework.
Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
Attributes: A patient, nurturing approach with a commitment to inclusive practice and supporting children with diverse needs (including SEND).
