An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and driven senior corporate lawyer to join a leading London-based corporate practice with a strong Financial Services focus. The role involves advising a diverse client base on complex corporate transactions and advisory matters within the UK and international FS sector.
The successful candidate will play a key role in executing high-value and strategically important matters, working closely with partners, colleagues across practice groups, and international teams. The position offers significant client exposure, responsibility across the full deal lifecycle, and scope to contribute to business development and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Advising on public and private M&A transactions involving Financial Services businesses, including share and asset sales, acquisitions, restructurings, and strategic investments
- Providing corporate and governance advice to regulated entities, financial institutions, and FS sponsors
- Leading and managing transaction processes from inception through to completion, including:
- Preliminary agreements (NDAs, exclusivity agreements, term sheets)
- Legal due diligence and disclosure exercises
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating key transaction documents
- Advising on joint ventures, shareholder arrangements, and strategic partnerships within the FS sector
- Strong experience in corporate M&A and advisory work, with a demonstrable focus on Financial Services clients
- Experience advising across the full transaction lifecycle on complex and often time-critical matters
- Sound understanding of the legal and commercial issues affecting regulated financial services businesses
- Ability to apply complex legal principles in a practical, solutions-driven manner
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and technical legal skills
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships
- Commercial, pragmatic, and proactive approach to problem-solving
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritise effectively, and perform under pressure
- Comfortable working autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team culture
- Demonstrates initiative, sound judgement, and a flexible, hands-on attitude
- Strong organisational and IT skills
- UK qualified solicitor (England & Wales)
- Strong academic background
- Relevant post-qualification experience gained within a recognised corporate practice, ideally with significant Financial Services exposure
