A leading US law firm is seeking a mid–senior level Funds Associate to join its London office, working within a highly regarded private funds and sponsor-side practice that operates seamlessly across London, New York and key global financial centres.
This role offers exposure to a market-leading, execution-focused private funds platform, advising sophisticated sponsors on core fund formation and a wide-ranging funds lifecycle practice, including GP-level and strategic transactions. The team is known for handling complex, high-value mandates for premier private equity, growth, credit, infrastructure and special situations sponsors.
The Role
The successful candidate will play an integral role in advising sponsors on:
- Core private funds formation, including the establishment and structuring of private equity, credit, growth, infrastructure and hybrid vehicles
- Sponsor-side execution, acting as a lead associate on fundraises from first close through final close
- Carried interest and incentive arrangements, including bespoke carry, co-investment and executive participation structures
- Secondaries transactions, including GP-led restructurings, continuation vehicles and liquidity solutions
- GP-level and sponsor transactions, such as GP stake sales, strategic investments, spin-outs and internal reorganisations
- Ongoing fund lifecycle matters, including amendments, investor negotiations, regulatory structuring considerations and strategic advice
The role is hands-on and responsibility-driven, with associates expected to run workstreams, manage junior lawyers, and liaise directly with clients.
Candidate Profile
- England & Wales qualified (or equivalent common-law qualification)
- Typically 4–7 PQE (flexible for strong candidates)
- Strong sponsor-side private funds experience gained at a leading US, Magic Circle or top-tier international firm
- Proven exposure to fund formation and fundraising, with experience across carry and GP-level matters strongly preferred
- Commercial, technically confident, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, execution-heavy environment
- Ambitious, collaborative and keen to develop within a high-performance US platform
