The Security Officer is responsible for controlling access to the Invergordon site, monitoring behaviours and supporting implementation of Company HSE policies and site rules. The role helps ensure best practice is implemented, monitored and recorded in line with HMRC regulations, while supporting the continual improvement of Security and Health & Safety performance.
- Control access to site, ensuring only authorised personnel and approved visitors or contractors are granted access, and that security cover meets business needs.
- Process delivery and despatch drivers, complete relevant checks and assist traffic management to maintain a safe and secure operating environment.
- Monitor CCTV, fire panels and site practices, interrogate fire alarms for faults or triggers and act in line with the On-Site Emergency Plan, including COMAH alarm and RapidReach systems where required.
- Assist with implementing H&S rules for the facility and ensure compliance with company requirements and government regulations.
- Complete and support regular H&S checks including weekly call points/fire alarm checks and monthly checks on fire doors, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting.
- Monitor and enforce site rules including PPE, speed limits and use of walkways; support contractor permit-to-work completion and site inductions.
- Assist with safe evacuation of personnel during emergencies and drills, collating roll calls and conveying information to West/Main gates; provide emergency first aid as required.
Skills and experience that will help you be a success:
- IOSH Working Safely is desirable.
- First Aid trained, or willing to work towards this qualification, is essential.
- Previous experience in a Security or H&S role is desirable.
- SIA training is desirable.
- Knowledge and understanding of H&S legislation, especially Upper Tier COMAH Regulations 2015.
- Knowledge and understanding of H&S and Security policies.
- Working knowledge of security protocols, especially those relating to HMRC bonded sites.
