Contract: Full Time / Permanent - 38 hours per week

Role Reports to: Head of Project Engineering & Health & Safety

What the opportunity looks like:

  • Lead and develop the Health and Safety programme across the 5 Distilleries & Maturation sites.
  • The role covers our 6 Lower Tier and 1 Upper Tier COMAH sites. Health & Safety is core to our Purpose and our Whyte and Mackay Community.
  • Ensure where possible, consistency of approach with partnership working with our Supply Chain team in Grangemouth and Earlsgate Distribution Centre and our head office at SVP Glasgow.
  • This role is the key point of contact for HSE and responsible for driving Zero Harm by coaching and guiding the Distilling Leadership team.
  • Health and Safety is all about People – our employees, contractors, visitors to our sites and ensuring we fulfil our duties to look after our neighbouring communities.
  • This role is all about People and communicating, inspiring and putting Health and Safety at top of our agenda.
  • Coaching, educating and inspiring colleagues is a key part of the role.
  • As a People Manager, you will be responsible for motivating, connecting, and leading your team.
  • You will carry out key people management activities throughout the year, including performance reviews, development planning, and fostering a positive team environment.
  • Ensure the Company Safety Policy is adhered to for Distilling and continuous improvement applied to ensure we adapt to the continuing changes in Health and Safety regulations.
  • Management and compliance to the Distilling Management System and Compliance Risk Register.
  • Ensure key roles covered for all our Health and Safety Obligations with the Distilling Director, Head of Engineering – Technical, Capex and Health & Safety.
  • Management of the COMAH system on behalf of the Distilling Director and compliance to all the aspects of the COMAH Regulations.
  • COMAH compliant for Site Safety Plans for Upper Tier and Major Accident Prevention Plans (MAPPs).
  • Active leadership with the Health and Safety & wider Teams to achieve Zero Harm across our Distilling sites and work in partnership with other Health and Safety roles across the company.

Skills and experience that will help you be a success:

  • Qualification in Health and Safety is essential – NEBOSH Diploma.
  • Demonstrable experience with Health and Safety Executive and their requirements.
  • Significant experience in designing and implementing Health and Safety Strategy.
  • Detailed understanding of COMAH & DSEAR.
  • Experience in a high risk operating environment and over 5 years Health and Safety Leadership Experience.
  • Candidates must have full right to work in the UK.
