Shape the future of whisky. Sustainably. Born in Glasgow, made in Scotland and enjoyed around the world. Whyte and Mackay is home to some of the most recognised and awarded whisky brands, including The Dalmore, Fettercairn, Jura and Tamnavulin. But behind every great dram is something even more powerful… people with passion, purpose and ambition.

We’re now looking for an experienced Environmental & Sustainability leader to help us take our Green Print ambitions to the next level, driving real impact across carbon, water, biodiversity, packaging and waste. This is a role where purpose meets performance. Where you’ll influence not just compliance, but strategy, partnerships and long-term sustainability across our global operations.

You’ll be:

  • Leading environmental compliance across our operations.
  • Working at the heart of our distilling and supply chain environments.
  • Partnering across the business to unlock efficiencies and drive change.
  • Shaping how we deliver our 2030 and 2040 sustainability commitments.
  • Leading a team and inspiring others to make a real difference.

What we’re really looking for… This role sits right at the heart of our distilling operations, so we’re particularly keen to hear from people with experience in distilling or closely aligned manufacturing environments, people who truly understand how things work on the ground. Alongside that, you’ll bring:

  • A solid background in environmental compliance, with a clear understanding of UK and Scottish regulatory frameworks.
  • The confidence to navigate licences, reporting requirements and compliance systems, and ensure we stay ahead.
  • A strong grasp of energy, water and raw material use — and how to use data to drive better decisions.
  • The ability to connect environmental performance with commercial impact, spotting efficiencies and opportunities.
  • An analytical mindset, comfortable working with data, trends and forecasts.
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to partner across Operations, Finance and Procurement.
  • The credibility to challenge, influence and lead conversations in a fast-moving environment.

We’re also looking for someone who is organised, resilient and pragmatic, with a genuine passion for sustainability and making a difference. And importantly, someone who enjoys getting out into our sites, building relationships and seeing first‑hand how we can continue to improve.

Location & travel: We’re open to where you’re based; however, this role is closely connected to our distilling operations, so there will be a need to be onsite regularly. A genuine commitment to regular travel across our sites is essential. This is more than a technical role, it’s about thinking long‑term, challenging the status quo and helping us do the right thing for our business and the planet. And whilst it’s a challenging time across industry, one thing hasn’t changed, the incredible commitment, resilience and pride of our people. It’s what makes this such a special place to be. If you’re looking for a role where you can genuinely make an impact, we’d love to hear from you.
