Role Reports to: Distilling Director
Responsibilities:
- Ensure Environmental Compliance across the company, reporting and engaging with Environment Agency, Scottish Environment Protection Agency, and liaising with the Scotch Whisky Association.
- Own the Green Print and ensure delivery of commitments in Agriculture & Biodiversity, Carbon Neutral, Water Stewardship, Zero Waste to Landfill & Packaging Regulation Compliance.
- Ensure compliance to all regulatory licences for Water, Land and Air for both the UK Environment Agency and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.
- Control the system for the licences and their compliance with incident reporting and auditing.
- Ensure compliance to Packaging Regulations for global markets, reporting and updating the company on adherence.
- Report information for Energy, Water and Packaging for adherence to licences.
- Link licences and reporting to key stakeholders, including Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Commercial and Marketing departments.
- Own the Climate Change Agreements and Levies (CCA & CCL), Waste Reporting, Extended Packaging Responsibility.
- Provide information for Monthly Reporting for Distilling Leadership Team and Supply Chain Leadership Team, Quarterly for Exec and Treasury, and Yearly for Corporate Reporting and Scotch Whisky Association.
- Analyse and act on data from Distilling for efficiencies of Grain, Fuels for Steam, Electricity and Water.
- Show opportunities for saving money from utilities using data analysis, benchmarking and Root Cause Analysis.
- Work with Finance and Procurement recording all credits from Energy, Renewable Gas Guarantees of Origin (RGGOs), Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) and Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) credits.
- Work with Procurement and Finance with Operations on key partnerships across all areas of the Green Print.
- Develop gains from partnerships from Green Gas, Green Biomass, Green Electricity and local Estates.
- Engage in long-term thinking with 2030 and 2040 Green Print ambition goals.
- Horizon scan with Engineering, Operations and Procurement for new opportunities and technologies.
- Continue to develop Award-winning programmes and improve.
- As a People Manager, motivate, connect, and lead your team, carrying out key people management activities throughout the year.
- As a Leader, inspire your team and serve as a role model across the organisation, promoting a culture of teamwork and excellence.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience; Science or Engineering qualifications preferred.
- Strong professional Environmental Compliance Knowledge and excellent understanding of Environmental Compliance.
- Knowledge of Environmental Regulations for UK and Scotland.
- In-depth understanding of Regulatory Frameworks and demonstrating compliance.
- Awareness of distilling operations, raw-material processes and energy and water systems.
- Engineering knowledge of processes and technologies to improve performance for Distilling & Supply Chain Environmental and Sustainability performance.
- Highly analytical with the ability to interpret Raw Material, Energy and Water data, assess financial risks, analyse variances and develop accurate forecasts.
- Strong understanding of Raw Material, Energy and Water cost structures, cost drivers and commercial modelling.
- Ability to support Operations, Procurement & Finance with forecasting and budget performance tracking.
- Organised, methodical and able to manage multiple priorities within a fast-moving operational environment.
- Strong commercial judgement with resilience, professionalism and the ability to challenge constructively.
- Valid driving licence required for regular visits.
