Job Purpose: Lead a team of operators and support the bottling production manager to ensure the highest standards of health & safety and quality are met, whilst achieving customer service levels and production targets. A key part of the role is engaging with the team and encouraging a continuous improvement mindset. It is imperative that this role sets and displays world class behavioural standards.
Key Responsibility Areas:
- Health & Safety Ensure company standards and legal requirements for product, quality, safety, environment and people are met and improved - Role model and implement Safety through behaviours. Lead incident management investigations to ensure there is no risk to products and people and incorporate learnings into future practices. Ensure Health, Safety and Environment risk assessment processes are carried out to protect product and employees. Provide an engaging and inclusive safe working environment. Follow site safety best practices to ensure safe working for self and to protect the safety of colleagues to demonstrate zero accident behaviour. Communicate proactively to all staff any update on site H&S rules.
- Leading and Managing People Provide operators with clear direction, setting the appropriate standards of behaviour, which motivates and empowers others to achieve results. Liaise with the Production Administrator to help organise resource needed to accomplish tasks on shift and liaise with external recruitment agencies to provide adequate headcount requirements in line with the production plan. Support the production manager with monitoring absence levels within the team. Train and develop the team by providing direction and support to enable them to deliver their objectives and optimise and develop their performance. Lead the team to effectively manage all planned and unplanned events to optimize line performance. Utilise the input and the expertise of the other departments to drive the production performance such as, quality, compliance, engineering, planning, packaging improvement and procurement teams. Ensure that team culture is developed in line with Company Values.
- Compliance and Quality Ensure teams on-line quality checks are monitored and carried out in accordance with quality testing standards. Responsible for bottling production targets, quality, health and safety and achieve high customer service levels. Ensure compliance to all external accreditation requirements such as, BRC, ISO900, OHSAS18001 and HMRC requirements. Support the Quality department in blocking, sorting, reworking and destruction of finished goods which fail product quality tests.
- Continuous improvement Be an advocate of and work on the premise of continuous improvement initiatives. Drive change throughout the bottling hall and encourage others to do so as well. Responsible for production out turns daily along with ensuring materials are available at requested times by liaising with relevant departments. Support in the completion of SOP's and competence-based training, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are informed and sign off is completed in a timely manner regarding competence. Encourage an engaging environment that drives a continuous improvement and high performing culture. Ensure best practices are shared and replicated with other departments and colleagues (internal and external) to improve production performance, quality, safety and environment.
