Location: Head Office, St Vincent Street, Glasgow - Hybrid Working (2 days per week in office)

Contract: Full Time / Permanent - 35 Hours - Monday to Thursday – 08:30-17:00, Friday 08:30-13:30

What the opportunity looks like: As a Business Data Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in transforming data into reporting and BI solutions, enabling actionable insights that support strategic decision-making across the business. You will work closely with stakeholders from all functions to understand data needs, develop reporting and analytical solutions that adhere to data quality and governance standards. You will act as an advocate for data fluency across the organisation, supporting training and capability‐building initiatives. This role is key to enabling a data‐driven culture at Whyte and Mackay.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently develop and maintain high‐quality dashboards, reports and visualisations in Power BI and Excel to provide consistent, reliable insights to business users.
  • Translate business requirements into clear reporting specifications and data models that enable effective decision‐making across all stakeholder levels.
  • Proactively improve reporting workflows, dataset structures and visualisation approaches to enhance usability, efficiency and data quality.
  • Contribute to enterprise projects by delivering BI outputs and ensuring new solutions integrate seamlessly into existing reporting environments.
  • Prepare, structure and model data from multiple sources to ensure clean, well‐organised datasets that support accurate reporting and downstream analysis.
  • Support the enhancement of data platforms, semantic models and data pipelines to strengthen the organisation's BI and reporting infrastructure.
  • Monitor and resolve data quality issues in consultation with data owners, ensuring trusted inputs for reports, dashboards and analytical activities.

Skills and experience that will help you be a success:

  • Substantial Experience in reporting, business intelligence or data analysis, with a strong focus on preparing, modelling and visualising data for end users.
  • Expert proficiency in Power BI and Excel, with solid understanding of reporting best practices, dashboard design and performance optimisation.
  • Good working knowledge of SQL and DAX; ideally some familiarity with Python or VBA for data preparation and automation.
  • Awareness of data privacy, compliance and governance standards, with the ability to apply them to reporting environments and dataset management.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate complex business needs into practical, high‐quality reporting solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, operate independently, and deliver results in a fast‐paced, changing environment.
  • Collaborative team player with strong communication skills and the ability to support data literacy and self‐service reporting across the organisation.
  • Must have current full right to work in the UK.
