Innovative fintech start-up revolutionizing post-trade by centralizing access to clearing and settlement across the UK and EU into a ledger-based single API infrastructure. We are seeking a highly skilled back-end engineer with a strong background in Java and extensive experience in API infrastructure development. You’ll join a fast-paced startup environment, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help build cutting-edge financial products powering the future of capital markets.

Location: London (preferred) or remote — within EMEA time zones

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, robust API infrastructure
  • Implement and optimize Java-based server-side logic
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
  • Develop responsive front-end interfaces using modern web technologies (as needed)
  • Ensure performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
  • Conduct code reviews; write unit/integration tests; support CI/CD practices
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues across the stack
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends to keep solutions competitive

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Back-End Engineer
  • Strong Java proficiency and experience with frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate)
  • Strong experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs
  • Database experience (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
  • Cloud and containers: AWS, Azure, GCP; Docker; Kubernetes
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, design patterns, and best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, proactive attitude, strong communication and teamwork

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to FIX systems / integrating with FIX connectivity
  • Fintech experience (post-trade / trading infrastructure: execution, settlement, reconciliation)
  • Security best practices
  • Open-source contributions
  • Exposure to DLT technology
