Coordinate the design effort across internal designers and the lead design office, allocating tasks and providing technical guidance. Ensure all designs comply with relevant engineering standards, regulations (including LOLER), and project specifications. Perform engineering calculations-e.g. load, stress, and deflection checks-to ensure structural safety and design integrity. Participate in internal and client design reviews, presenting and justifying technical decisions.
  • Project and Resource Coordination: Manage your own design workload across quotation and live project stages using the central design tracker with key internal stakeholders. Engage proactively with external stakeholders to ensure product realisation and design principles are administered and informed correctly. Provide clear, accurate updates on progress and expected completion dates to project owners, commercial leads, and clients. Ensure designs are completed on time, within scope, and within the allocated design budget. Support the identification and capture of variations and additional works through the design phase.

Liaise with structural engineers, manufacturing teams, and project stakeholders to align on design feasibility and delivery constraints. Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and act as technical representative in client-facing meetings as required.
  • Process and Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development and improvement of design templates, calculation tools, standard parts libraries, and engineering processes. Mentor colleagues and the wider team.

Personal Attributes: Proactive and solution-focused, calm under pressure, especially during breakdowns or urgent works, strong leadership and decision-making skills, safety first, flexibility, innovative.
