Manage all aspects of store operations, leading the leadership team, production, and Team Member base. The Small Format Store Leader is responsible for all aspects of daily operations including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, vision, and support across all areas of the store.
  • Use creative and innovative thinking to build sales and customer service, effectively address problems, and successfully adapt to the market and competition.
  • Lead in understanding, implementing, and living the company Core Values.
  • Build a positive work environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
  • Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate and counsel Team Members to build and sustain a high-performance team and minimise turnover.
  • Model and cultivate effective cross-store communication, including all required morning and evening all store huddles.
  • Support Team Member growth and development by promoting a culture of training.
  • Ensure the highest retail standards for store execution, cleanliness and maintenance are met or exceeded.
  • Support and ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are being followed by leadership and team members.
  • Follow WFM’s food safety, organics, and cleaning and maintenance guidelines, promptly addressing hazards or violations.
  • Participate in fiscal period and quarter end inventories.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Proven experience meeting all customer service expectations and standards when interacting with customers, vendors, and fellow Team Members.
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building and leadership skills.
  • A willingness to be cross trained to ensure ability to support and lead across all areas of the store.
  • Advanced knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management.
  • Food safety certification, if not currently certified, will commit to completing certification within 6 months.
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Ability to multi-task, show excellent follow-through and see the big picture.
  • High energy, enthusiastic, and displays an affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy.

Desired Work Experiences

  • 3+ years of experience in a Store Leadership role, including direct experience leading and building teams, managing conflicts and employee relations issues.
  • Customer Service Focus.

Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions

  • Must be able to lift fifty pounds.
  • In a 10-hour workday: standing/walking 8-10 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Benefits

The wage range for this position is £41,000.00-£71,000.00 Annual, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers "Whole Benefits". Eligibility for Whole Benefits is determined under the terms of the applicable Whole Benefits plan at a person’s date of hire.
