Manage all aspects of store operations and support overall leadership to Team Members. Responsible for all aspects of daily operations including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance and special projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Support Retail Floor Lead in all aspects of store operations, including acting as a shift leader and providing clear guidance to Retail Floor Team Members.
- Foster a positive environment of teamwork, respect, and high morale.
- Support and model WFM (Whole Foods Market) vision and goals.
- Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and coach Retail Team Members to maintain a high-performance team and reduce turnover.
- Ensure Retail Floor Team Members complete required training within designated deadlines.
- Provide timely feedback to Team Leader and assist with conducting Team Members’ job dialogues on time.
- Support Store Leader in efficiently operating the store to achieve all sales, labor, budgeted expense targets and contribution goals.
- Support front-end responsibilities including cash handling, staffing and operational efficiency to customer wait times.
- Maintain and support overall store cleanliness and maintenance.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Follow WFM’s food safety, organics, and cleaning and maintenance guidelines, promptly addressing hazards or violations.
- Participate in fiscal period and quarter end inventories.
- Stay informed on company and store level information and communications from Operational Area and Team Leader.
- Model and cultivate effective cross-store communication, including required morning and evening store huddles.
- Support and back up the Inventory Data Specialist with receiving and SSS (Store Scanning Specialist) duties, including accurate retail pricing and proper signage throughout the store.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Meet all customer service expectations and standards when interacting with customers, vendors, and fellow Team Members.
- Will be cross-trained and provide support across all areas of the store.
- Food safety certification; if not currently certified, will commit to completing certification within 6 months of hire.
- Advanced knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management.
- Proper use of equipment, which may include but not limited to knives, personal protective equipment, forklift, pallet jacks, hand trucks, six-wheel carts, baler (must be 18 years of age or older) and all other equipment used during preparation and clean up within department and store.
- Advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building and leadership skills.
- High energy, enthusiastic, and displays an affinity for our products, core values, and company philosophy.
- Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
- Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications.
Desired Work Experiences:
- 24+ months retail experience including 12+ months of team leadership experience.
Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions:
- Must be able to lift fifty pounds.
- In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
- Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
- Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
- Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
