We design, build, and maintain the UK’s utilities infrastructure to help transform local communities for the better. The Role: Working on a hybrid basis, this is a great opportunity for a candidate to make their mark and build a brand new team around them.
Responsibilities:
- Advise on potential ecological constraints during all aspects of projects.
- Provide guidance on best methods and practice to meet technical and project requirements.
- Attend site walkovers to inform design and future ecological deliverables required.
- Keep up to date with industry best practice and, when necessary, brief junior ecological staff.
- Input into desktop environmental assessments of proposed works.
- Complete ecological surveys to inform required mitigation.
- Source and coordinate outsourced ecological deliverables with vendors as needed.
- Provide advice and guidance on addressing ecological constraints present.
- Input into fee development and bidding from an ecological perspective.
- Liaise with clients on ecological technical matters.
- Aid and support the development of junior ecologists.
Qualifications:
- An ecological or environmental degree.
- Membership of a relevant professional body.
- Clean driving licence.
Skills:
- Out of the box thinking.
- Pragmatic approach.
- Strong coordination skills.
- Sound knowledge of processes and technical standards within ecology.
- Computer literate.
- Knowledge of H&S legislation and regulations.
Experience:
- Ecological knowledge and experience.
- Knowledge of utilities-based work.
- Hold species licence/s, particularly a licence for great crested newt would be beneficial.
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
