This individual will not be responsible for managing the scope, execution, or tracking of projects, but will play a critical role in the demand management process, ensuring the organization has the resources to meet business needs.
Minimum requirements:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
- Certifications in demand management frameworks (e.g., SAFe, Agile) will be highly advantageous.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT project demand management or coordination, ideally within the FMCG or CPG industry.
- Experience working with SAFe methodology, particularly in the context of Program Increment (PI) planning, is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with demand management processes and the role of capacity allocation within an Agile framework.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple project demands simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with both business and IT stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management tools (Jira) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of Agile practices, specifically the SAFe methodology, is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demand Management: Act as the central point for logging all incoming IT project demand requests, ensuring each is accurately recorded within the demand management system. Coordinate and track the allocation of available resources (capacity) for IT projects during the Program Increment (PI) planning process. Collaborate with business units and IT teams to gather details on project demand and ensure all requests are accurately captured for consideration during PI planning. Ensure that the demand process is followed correctly, and any issues are flagged for resolution with appropriate teams.
- Capacity Allocation: Work closely with the Enterprise Architecture Lead and other stakeholders to ensure the capacity allocation for IT projects is aligned with organizational priorities. Assist in managing the flow of work within the system, ensuring that project demand is allocated efficiently based on available resources. Monitor and update the demand pipeline to reflect changes in resource availability, capacity, or business priorities.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the key liaison between business units, project teams, and IT departments regarding project demand, ensuring all parties are aligned on project request timelines and capacity availability. Support the coordination of PI planning sessions, providing input on demand priorities and available capacity to inform decision-making. Facilitate clear communication regarding the demand process, ensuring stakeholders understand how project requests are managed and allocated.
- Demand Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements to streamline the demand management process and ensure better alignment between business needs and IT capacity. Track and report on the demand pipeline, ensuring all requests are being managed in a timely and organized manner.
