About The Role

Keeping the lights on? That's the easy part.

At Whitworths, we're proud of our heritage, excited by our future, and driven by the people who make it happen. As we continue to grow and invest in our manufacturing capability, we're looking for a Site Infrastructure Engineer to help keep our site operating safely, efficiently and reliably.

This is a hands‑on role where you'll be responsible for the infrastructure that keeps our operation running—from utilities and site services to building systems and critical equipment. Working Monday to Friday on static day shifts, you'll troubleshoot, maintain, improve and help shape the future of our facilities.

What you'll be doing

  • Maintaining and improving site utilities including compressed air, steam, electrical, gas and water systems.
  • Delivering planned preventative maintenance and responding to breakdowns when needed.
  • Supporting continuous improvement projects that reduce downtime and improve reliability.
  • Working closely with colleagues and contractors to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Keeping accurate maintenance records and ensuring compliance with site standards.

What we're looking for

  • Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • Strong electrical fault‑finding skills.
  • Experience working with compressed air and steam generation systems.
  • Knowledge of single and three‑phase electrical systems.
  • A practical problem‑solver who enjoys getting to the root cause, not just fixing the symptom.
  • Someone who takes ownership, communicates well and thrives in a team environment.

Experience within food manufacturing or regulated environments would be an advantage, but attitude, capability and a willingness to learn are just as important.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • 33 days holiday
  • Workplace pension
  • Healthcare plan
  • Opportunities for voluntary overtime
  • In addition, you’ll also have access to a number of family friendly, health and lifestyle benefits.
  • Culturally, we believe strongly in investing in our people, developing them in role and developing their careers within Whitworths.
