To carry out a full range of carpentry and joinery work across our estate, ensuring buildings, fixtures, and fittings are maintained to a safe, functional, and high-quality standard. The role supports the day‑to‑day operation, repair, and improvement of estate properties, often within occupied environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive maintenance, fault finding, and repairs to carpentry elements across the estate (doors, windows, floors, partitions, furniture).
- Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with estates schedules.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests to minimise disruption to building users.
- Install, repair, and maintain fixtures and fittings including doors, frames, locks, ironmongery, skirting, and cabinetry.
- Manufacture and fit bespoke joinery items where required.
- Perform first and second fix carpentry works.
- Liaise with estates teams, facilities staff, and external contractors.
- Adhere to all relevant health & safety legislation, including COSHH and risk assessments.
- Maintain awareness of fire safety standards.
- Use tools and materials safely and responsibly.
- Inspect buildings and identify defects, deterioration, or potential hazards.
- Provide reports on required repairs or improvements.
- Record completed work using job systems or maintenance logs.
- Support wider estates and maintenance teams when required (e.g., minor building works, basic plumbing or painting support).
- Assist with minor refurbishments and improvement projects.
Key Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in Carpentry & Joinery.
- Proven experience in maintenance carpentry within an estates, facilities, or construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of building materials, tools, and repair techniques.
- Understanding of health & safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Good communication skills when working in occupied buildings.
