We have a vacancy for this exciting new venture, and are looking to recruit a Pharmacist. You will be supported through a comprehensive induction and training programme to ensure you are confident in your new role. This role is suitable for experienced hospital Pharmacists as well as newly qualified Pharmacists and community based Pharmacists who are looking to get hospital and Outpatient Pharmacy exposure.

You will be responsible for the safe and smooth running of the Pharmacy during your Sunday shift processing mainly A&E prescriptions as well as occasional Outpatient clinic prescriptions. You will be supported by a small team of highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy assistants.

Who are we looking for

You will ideally have experience of working in a busy community or hospital pharmacy and be able to demonstrate exceptional communication and caring skills, along with confidence and the ability to question. You will be a GPhC registered pharmacist with at least two years post registration experience and will be highly motivated, passionate and able to work as part of our small high‑performing team.

Main duties of the job

The focus of your role will be as Responsible Pharmacist, ensuring safe and effective patient care is provided in line with hospital policy and national guidelines. You will be part of a small but dynamic Sunday Pharmacy team who processes around 50 outpatient prescriptions in addition to assisting patients with the sale of OTC lines.

Your role – work with real purpose. You will help in ensuring a high quality patient and customer experience is maintained, providing personalised solutions to help people lead healthier lives. You will be responsible for the provision of a range of exceptional professional pharmacy services and would be expected to help develop and drive forward services to meet the needs of our patients, staff and the local community.

Functional requirements

  • Qualified UK Pharmacist with at least one year post qualification experience
  • Clean DBS or able to pass one when required
  • Fluent written and spoken English, including good numeracy
  • Experience of working in outpatient Pharmacy setting
  • Experience of using JAC pharmacy computer system

Skills/Abilities

  • Good clinical skills
  • Strong communication skills – must be able to recognise and overcome barriers to understanding such as language, deaf or learning difficulties
  • Strong ability to multi‑task, prioritise, plan and organise
  • Confident in use of clinical resources – BNF/BNFC and EMC

Educational & Professional

  • Registered with the GPhC with no adverse Fitness to Practice record
  • Experience of acting as Responsible Pharmacist in a dispensary
  • Demonstrable commitment to CPD and a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy
  • Post graduate qualification such as a Clinical Pharmacy diploma
  • Experience of using prescription tracking systems
  • Experience of working in an automated dispensary environment
