An exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife to join our Midwifery Led Unit (Birth Centre) as a team leader. We look after a diverse population, providing personalised care to women and their families. Our unit offers innovative practice including overnight partner support, enhanced recovery, midwifery-led induction of labour and normalising birth. We pride ourselves on a first-class service, reflected in positive compliments from service users. The Birth Centre features four birthing pools and a Labour Ward with two birthing pools and telemetry to encourage normality.
Main duties of the job:
- The successful applicant will lead the Birth Centre team, work alongside the current Team Leader on a reduced schedule and participate in the Flow Coordinator rota.
- Responsibilities include managing staff delivering midwifery-led intrapartum care, applying innovative leadership, ensuring high standards of care and supporting clinical governance initiatives.

Person specification:
Education / qualifications:- Registered Midwife on the register.
- Degree or Diploma in Midwifery.
- Evidence of professional accountability via portfolio.
- Minimum 3 years experience as Band 6 in midwifery.
- Experience in all areas of midwifery practice.
- Champion of midwifery-led care.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Experience in clinical governance initiatives.
- Experience in change management.
- Leadership and management skills, including delegation and team development.
- Ability to influence and manage change and promote evidence-based practice.
