The post holder will have a fantastic opportunity to join an expanding team of pharmacy technicians across Whittington Health District Nursing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer medication, including oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular (e.g., insulin, low molecular weight heparin, hydroxocobalamin) and intravenous via peripherally inserted central catheter.
  • Perform in-depth medication reviews, medicine reconciliation and self-administration.
  • Advise team members on good medicines management and health promotion activities.
  • Participate in medicine reconciliation to improve medicines optimisation across the primary and secondary care interface.
  • Participate in medication history screening, problem solving and communication with patients, GPs and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in the development and expansion of the pharmacy technician role.
  • Participate in Whittington Health medicines management initiatives.
  • Participate in extended roles for technicians as training allows.
  • Competency assess health-care assistants undertaking medication administration.
  • Engage in education and training of pharmacy technicians, registered nurses and health-care assistants.
  • Facilitate CPD and collaborate with the professional development pharmacy technician on clinical audits, quality improvements and practice development.
  • Work unsocial hours as required, including weekend and evening shifts.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have successfully completed an NVQ in Pharmaceutical Services.
