The Clinical Housekeeper post provides ongoing support to the midwifery staff by performing assigned tasks involving indirect patient care, including overseeing equipment and the environment. The post holder works across the maternity service, labour ward, inpatient wards, birth centre and antenatal clinic, and community services based on site. The post holder ensures wards and patient areas are comfortable, clean, well-stocked and welcoming.
Responsibilities
- Monitor cleaning duties in accordance with ward schedules and area procedures, and take action to rectify faults, including undertaking emergency cleaning.
- Ensure Tendable audits are performed as scheduled; share results with clinical teams; keep notice boards updated and tidy.
- Perform daily temperature checks of fridges and drug storerooms and escalate if temperatures deviate from normal values.
- Record and action requests for maintenance and monitor progress of jobs; report to the ward; liaise with Estates/facilities as necessary.
- Liaise with stock ordering personnel to order stock; check supplies of clinical forms, blood vials, etc.; order if necessary and keep stock room tidy; stock up as necessary.
- Perform basic computer tasks following training.
