Whittington Hospital combines an academic ethos with a friendly DGH environment. The Acute Medicine Team is central to daily operations. We seek an enthusiastic and committed consultant to join our team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering Acute Medicine services.
- Being on the GIM on-call weekend and out-of-hours rota.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Main duties / responsibilities:
- Provide acute medical care to patients within the hospital setting.
- Participate in GIM on-call weekend and out-of-hours rota.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team and manage patient care effectively.
- Develop and disseminate clinical guidelines, pathways, and audit processes.
- Contribute to research and educational activities.
Person specification – qualifications & training:
- Full GMC registration – MBBS, MRCP or equivalent.
- Entry on Specialist Register in Acute Medicine or General (Internal) Medicine, or expected within 6 months of interview.
- MSc, PhD or equivalent research qualification.
- CCT in Acute Medicine.
- Demonstrated commitment to a career in Acute Medicine.
Skills & abilities:
- Expert clinical opinion in acute medicine.
- Independent responsibility for patient care.
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Teamwork and collaborative approach.
Additional requirements:

Safeguarding:
- Familiar with London Child Protection Procedures and protocols for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

- Participation in required training and supervision.
