Opportunity to work as a MDT Co‑ordinator/MDT Tracker within the Multi‑Disciplinary Team, providing high quality care for patients with cancer and implementing and tracking patients through their cancer pathway.
Responsible for submissions to Cancer Waiting times, The Cancer Registry, Peer Review and National cancer audits and datasets. Confidence in operating IT systems is essential.
Provide cover support to Cancer MDT Coordinators during busy periods, including preparing MDT lists and attending pre‑MDT and post‑MDT meetings.
Working hour requirements for this role require flexibility; normal working hours are 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Track and manage referrals for patients with suspected and confirmed cancer to ensure local and national cancer pathways and targets are met.
- Organise and attend multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
- Prepare appropriate lists of patients to be discussed at each MDT, distributing them across the team from diverse sources.
- Prepare MDT decision sheets before the meeting, including patient demographics, investigation results and other relevant clinical information.
- Ensure MDT awareness of patient progress relative to the 31‑ and 62‑day target dates, and manage proactive patient journey through Operational Management and Clinical Nurse Specialists.
- Liaise with Patient Pathway Co‑ordinators and other support departments to provide timely access to clinical data for MDT discussions.
- Coordinate administrative actions following MDT decisions such as booking scans, appointments and surgery dates, and follow up with clinical nurse specialists.
- Assist with follow‑up actions required by the MDT, such as contacting patients to arrange next steps.
- Document MDT decisions accurately in patient notes and maintain an audit trail.
- File MDT decision summaries into case notes promptly, keeping copies for audit purposes.
- Record all MDT decisions in the Somerset Cancer Register system, liaising with clinicians to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure necessary audio/visual equipment is available for MDT or SMDT meetings to record decisions on the Somerset Cancer Register system.
- Organise Specialist Multi‑Disciplinary Team (SMDT) meetings in a similar manner and inform clinicians across London Cancer of any changes.

- Understanding of general medical terminology.
