Main duties of the job

  • To support health visitors in delivering the Healthy Child Programme and Whittington Health Trust (Barnet) Health Visiting service specification.
  • To work across the 0-19 service, based within the Health Visiting teams, to improve health and life outcomes for children and families within a defined community through delivering packages of care/support following assessment by the Health Visitor/Team Leader.
  • To participate in the development of intervention pathways, services and health improvement activities.
  • To work in collaboration with other health care and service providers, including Children Centres and Early Years to identify and address health needs.

Person specification

  • The post holder is a qualified registered nurse ideally with experience in working in paediatrics in an acute/community setting.
  • Experience working in the community and/or with children and families.
  • Excellent communication skills: IT, written and oral.
  • High levels of clinical skills, with the ability to identify, respond to and evaluate health needs.
  • Ability to apply research to practice.
  • Ability to set personal objectives, and manage time, priorities and stressful situations.
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately and safely.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of current legislation and national guidance.
  • Understanding of the safeguarding process and child protection procedures, clinical governance arrangements and the ability to make decisions in these areas.
  • Willingness to support management of change.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Commitment to the development of excellent services, which focus on improved outcomes for children.
  • Awareness of Equal Opportunities and Valuing Diversity.
