Whittaker Engineering (Stonehaven) Limited are an engineering and manufacturing company based in Stonehaven, who service the marine, offshore and associated industries. The Company are looking to recruit a full time QC Fabrication & Welding Inspector based at our modern facility in Stonehaven. The QC Fabrication & Welding Inspector role will be integrated into the fabrication department with the responsibility for the day-to-day weld/dimensional inspection of the fabrication shop.
Duties include but may not be restricted to:
- Ensure the upkeep of our Quality systems ISO 9001 & 3834-2 are maintained before, during and after welding
- Ensuring welding work is allocated to qualified personnel
- Coordinate sub-con NDT testing/mechanical testing
- Ensure correct weld procedures are used on particular work
- Prepare Weld Maps and Weld Logs for job packs
- Assist Responsible Welding Coordinator in monitoring weld procedures, carrying out welder audits
- Record readings from welding processes, collate readings, temperatures etc.
- Ensure the relevant NDT techniques are utilized in accordance with relevant specifications and client/company procedures
- Review radiographs of completed welds if required
- Sign off welding reports (and radiographs if qualified)
- Ensuring that QC inspections are carried out against product specifications in a timely manner
- Carry out visual and dimensional inspection of structural/pipework/vessel assemblies against the approved design data in an efficient manner to support production schedules
- Write/Maintain records of weld maps/logs and dimensional reports inspected components
- Assist with QA documentation packages in accordance with relevant company and or client supplied procedures/acceptance standard
- Deal with weld repairs, and maintain records where necessary i.e. weld repair rates
- To ensure non-conforming assemblies, sub-assemblies, parts, materials, and processes are identified and appropriate actions are taken to resolve the non-conformance
- Investigation and reporting of inspection problems and scrap products
- Ensure job cards are kept up to date for welding/NDT activities
- Make sure that procedures for risk assessments, safety audits and inspections are implemented
- Ensure that procedures for safe plant and equipment are implemented
- Ensure you work safely and you are not endangering yourself, those around you or the environment
- Ensure health and safety and environmental policies are adhered to
- Liaise with Certifying Authority/client/third party inspectors when necessary
- Supervision of young workers/trainees/apprentices
- Ensuring client requirements are met
Excellent working conditions, remuneration package and benefits are available. Salary depends on experience and can be negotiated, based on a 39-hour working week. All applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK and be capable of commuting daily to our Stonehaven facility.
