The Welding Apprentice Tutor role will be integrated into the Fabrication department with the purpose of ensuring welding apprentices receive excellent welding training in line with the Company’s in house apprentice training programme.

This role is part time, working two or three days per week. Applicants must be flexible on which days they work depending on apprentice college attendance days. There are currently eight apprentices spanning across four years of apprenticeship training. We have a planned apprentice intake for August 2026.

Duties will include but may not be restricted to:

  • Training apprentices in a range of welding processes – MMA, TIG, FCAW, MIG, SUBARC
  • Welding a variety of materials – steel, stainless steel, aluminum, duplex, cunifer
  • Tack welding of fit-ups
  • Welding various material grades and positions
  • Lifting and handling safely

All of the above tasks will be supported by departmental supervisors and our existing qualified tradespersons.

Provide coaching, ongoing feedback and evaluate tasks undertaken to aid the apprentice’s development.

Completing apprentice in house training records on daily basis.

Ensure apprentices comply with Company safety and environmental policies.

Liaising with line managers to ensure inhouse training programme still meets required levels of skill and company relevance and standards of the Modern Apprenticeship.

Provide regular apprentice performance feedback to line managers.

Ensure you work safely and you are not endangering yourself, those around you or the environment.

Applicants must have an appropriate welding trade background and have a good knowledge of all welding and fabrication processes in a range of materials.

Applicants must have strong people management skills and the correct aptitude for tutoring.
