An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our friendly and supportive clinical team. We are looking for an experienced prescribing clinician to work 20-30 hours per week (5-8 sessions). Applications are welcomed from:

  • Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs)
  • Paramedics
  • Other independent prescribing clinicians with experience in assessing and managing minor illness

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with acute and minor illness
  • Independently prescribe within scope of practice
  • Request and interpret appropriate investigations
  • Refer patients appropriately using local and national pathways
  • Deliver both face-to-face and telephone consultations
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records and coding
  • Work collaboratively with GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Participate in clinical meetings, governance activities and quality improvement
  • Contribute to a positive learning environment within our GP training practice
  • Maintain professional development and mandatory training requirements
  • Undertake autonomous clinical assessments
  • Diagnose, treat and safely manage undifferentiated presentations
  • Order and interpret investigations
  • Make referrals to secondary care and community services where appropriate
  • Provide health promotion and preventative care advice
  • Support patients with long‑term condition management where appropriate
  • Provide clinical advice to colleagues where appropriate
  • Participate in safeguarding, significant event reviews and clinical governance
  • Support the education of students and trainee clinicians within the practice

Person Specification

  • Current professional registration (NMC, HCPC or GPhC as appropriate)
  • Independent Prescriber qualification
  • Advanced Clinical Practice qualification or equivalent advanced practice experience
  • Experience managing patients with minor illness and undifferentiated presentations
  • Excellent clinical assessment and decision‑making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience working in General Practice (desirable)
  • Experience using EMIS Web (desirable)
  • Teaching or supervision experience (desirable)
  • Interest in service development and quality improvement (desirable)
