Job Purpose: Under the guidance of the Site Supervisor engage in 'facilities' procedures across the school helping to secure the best learning environment for students and teachers., Security
- Open and close site including buildings and gates methodically checking and securing in line with school requirements
- Un-setting and setting of school alarm system
- Patrol of the buildings and regular testing/checking of alarms and security systems including CCTV system
- Responding appropriately to alarm situations in accordance with set procedures
Health and Safety
- To assist the Site Supervisor in all aspects of health and safety
Maintenance
- Collect litter from all paths, drives, hard surfaces, ensuring the site is clean and tidy both inside and outside, on a twice daily basis at least, particularly after break and lunch; empty bins on school yard on a weekly basis
- Clean drains, gullies, grates and clear any graffiti
- Carry out first line repairs (electrical, mechanical, plumbing and maintenance)
- Keep paths, access points and entrances free of snow and ice to ensure safe passage
- Carry out painting/decorating duties as outlined in site plan and in accordance with school use
- Assist the Site Supervisor in the efficient working of heating plant and lighting, keeping required records and maintaining specified standards of performance
- Read meters as required and assist the Site Supervisor to maintain approved records including any concerned with energy and water conservation matters
- Draw attention to any repairs or maintenance work which cannot be carried out by onsite staff,ensuring that contractors conform with correct regulations
- Assist Site Supervisor in carrying out weekly fire alarm checks, legionella tests and schoolminibuses checks
- Assist Site Supervisor in carrying out 'two man' duties eg erecting notice boards, replacing lights, repairing doors/closers and windows, ladder/roof work retrieving pupils' belongings.
Porterage
- Take delivery of furniture, stores, materials and other goods and convey them to appropriate area in school
- Build new equipment/furniture
- Set up and take down chairs/examination tables in accordance with school calendar and examination/test requirements
Other
- Clear classrooms as requested in to bins/skips
- Carry out duty at the end of the school day, ensuring pupils exit the site safely by bus and on foot
- React to radio calls throughout the day assisting staff, and accompany contractors on site
- Complete orders when necessary
- Minibus driving when requested
- Cover of other members of team if and when required
- Any other duties as required This post is offered on a fixed-term basisfor 12 months in the first instance, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
