Whitgift is one of Britain's leading independent boarding and day schools for boys aged between 10 and 18 years, with approximately 1500 pupils and over 100 boarding or flexi‐boarding pupils. It was founded in 1596 by Elizabeth I's last Archbishop of Canterbury, John Whitgift, and is the oldest school in Croydon. During the summer holidays, Whitgift runs its own summer school for international students, utilising all its fantastic facilities and modern boarding house.

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Computer Science Teacher to teach one of the elements within our Digital Champions course for the 2026 summer school. The successful applicant will have a passion for teaching and an imaginative, creative approach, with a focus on student‐centred learning.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and deliver engaging, inspiring Computer Science lessons to students aged 11‐17 within the Digital Champions scheme.
  • Develop and utilise up‐to‐date resources and materials that foster student engagement and learning.
  • Manage lesson planning and classroom management within a fast‐paced summer school context.
  • Record and maintain accurate attendance and assessment records as required.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues and parents as appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
  • University degree and a well‐qualified teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching Computer Science, preferably in a summer school or similar setting.
  • Strong professionalism and ability to cope efficiently with record keeping and other administrative duties.
  • High standard of spoken and written English.
  • Evidence of right to work in the UK for the duration of the contract.
Commitment & Availability
  • Teach for a total of two weeks during the 6‐week summer programme.
  • Two‐week break between each session; full availability for both sessions is prioritised.
  • Applicants who cannot commit for both weeks must state this clearly in the application form.
