Reports to: Principal
Role and Responsibilities:
- You will deliver structural designs for a wide range of infrastructure works, including substation buildings, transformer bundles, steel structures, equipment concrete foundations and cable management systems.
- Working collaboratively with civil, geotechnical, and electrical engineers, you will support projects from feasibility and concept design through to detailed engineering and construction support.
- You will be responsible for managing calculations, drawings, specifications, and design deliverables, ensuring compliance with UK and industry design standards such as Eurocodes, National Grid and DNO requirements.
- Quality, safety, and buildability are central to everything you do, with Health & Safety and CDM considerations embedded throughout the design process.
What You’ll Bring:
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng)
- At least 2 years’ experience in a design consultancy environment
- Strong knowledge of UK design codes and standards
- Experience using structural analysis and design software (e.g. Tekla TEDDS, Robot or similar)
- Working towards ICE or IStructE chartership
- A collaborative mindset with strong communication skills
- A clean UK driving licence is desirable for occasional site visits and inspections.
