Salary: £42,000–£55,000 depending on experience
Employed by Whitewall, embedded full-time within Drake Circus & The Barcode. Whitewall is recruiting to this position on behalf of British Land as part of our embedded staffing model. You will be employed by Whitewall (with full HR, payroll, training and development support) but work exclusively as the onsite Marketing Manager for Drake Circus & The Barcode in Plymouth, one of the South West's leading retail and leisure destinations. This is not an agency role and does not involve working on other Whitewall clients. You’ll work 100% on Drake Circus & The Barcode, alongside the centre team.
About The Role
As Marketing Manager, you will own and deliver the full onsite marketing, events and placemaking programme for Drake Circus & The Barcode. You’ll ensure the destination remains relevant, vibrant, commercially successful, driving footfall, brand strength, retailer performance and asset value. You’ll report to a Whitewall Account Director, with a dotted line into British Land's Senior Retail Marketing Manager.
What you’ll do
- Own the full marketing and events plan, aligned to centre strategy and commercial goals
- Deliver local campaigns, seasonal moments, events and community partnerships
- Manage all digital, social and website content, ensuring accuracy and retailer inclusion
- Build strong local media and PR relationships
- Ensure customer data is collected, managed and used compliantly
- Work closely with Retail Managers and the centre team to drive retailer engagement
- Provide clear communication to retailers and stakeholders about all marketing activity
- Develop partnerships with community groups, authorities and cultural bodies
- Act as the centre's local intelligence hub (insight, trends, demographics, competitor analysis)
- Own performance reporting at site level
- Manage the annual marketing budget, demonstrating strong ROI
- Support leasing and asset management with openings and strategic initiatives
- Manage agencies to ensure high quality delivery
What you’ll bring
- 5-10 years experience in marketing, ideally in retail destinations or placemaking environments
- Commercial mindset with ability to link marketing activity to real business outcomes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Highly organised, comfortable managing multiple projects
