Main Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality teaching, leadership and management that ensures all pupils make strong academic, social and emotional progress within a safe, nurturing and well-structured learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching and Learning
- Set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge all pupils.
- Create and maintain a safe, calm and respectful learning environment.
- Ensure high-quality planning, teaching and assessment that meets individual pupil needs.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on pupil progress, attainment and wellbeing in line with school systems and deadlines.
- Adapt teaching through effective differentiation, personalised learning programmes and targeted interventions.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of an engaging, personalised curriculum that promotes a love of learning.
- Lead and support staff, promoting high standards of practice, behaviour and professionalism.
- Contribute to and take responsibility for delegated areas of the School Improvement Plan (SIP).
- Support appraisal, supervision and professional development processes.
- Maintain high expectations of behaviour, modelling positive attitudes and values.
- Manage timetables, staffing and daily logistics to ensure consistency and effective provision.
- Maintain a visible leadership presence across the school site.
- Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) for the site.
- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour policies are followed consistently.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date pupil records, risk assessments and key documentation.
- Promote positive behaviour and strong relationships with pupils.
- Build effective relationships with pupils, parents/carers, staff and external professionals.
- Ensure parents/carers are well informed about pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
- Contribute positively to the wider life, ethos and communications of the school.
- Engage fully in CPD, appraisal, coaching and mentoring.
- Reflect on practice and act on feedback to improve performance.
- Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by senior leaders.
