Whitetree, based in the Greater Bristol Area, United Kingdom, is looking for an ambitious Finance Assistant to support our Finance Business Partner while completing their AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting.

Base pay range Pay will be based on your skills and experience, discussed with your recruiter.

Responsibilities

  • Manage client invoicing, ensuring accuracy and timely issue through the accounting system.
  • Prepare invoicing schedules and verify associated timesheet and expense data.
  • Process supplier invoices and credit notes, ensuring accuracy and proper approval.
  • Prepare weekly payment runs, reconcile outstanding amounts, and ensure payments meet agreed terms.
  • Onboard new employees, suppliers, customers, and projects in the accounting system with complete documentation.
  • Post monthly journals for accruals, prepayments, and other adjustments.
  • Review employee expenses for policy compliance prior to approval.
  • Produce basic financial reports to support management and internal reviews.
  • Respond to finance queries and, when necessary, escalade complex issues.
  • Support finance administration and record‑keeping, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Success in the first 3‑6 months

  • Confidently manage routine finance processes with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Build a strong understanding of our accounting systems and procedures.
  • Develop positive working relationships across the Finance team and wider business.
  • Apply knowledge from your studies to real‑world finance tasks.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ownership over your workload.

Skills & experience required

  • Completed or currently studying AAT Level 3 is desirable.
  • Previous experience in a finance, accounting or bookkeeping role.
  • Experience using financial software such as Xero, Quickbooks, or FreeAgent (NetSuite preferred but not essential).
  • A love for learning.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong self‑motivation, able to work independently, especially in a remote environment.
  • Ideally located within a commutable distance to Bristol.
  • Willingness and ability to work from home and travel, as required, to team and all staff meetings generally in the South West.
  • Current right to live and work in the UK.
