We’re seeking an experienced RICS‑Chartered Building Surveyor to step into a senior role leading survey activity, capital project input and asset strategy across a diverse national estate. If you have public sector or secure‑environment experience and enjoy managing people and stakeholders, this is an exceptional opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of condition surveys, defect analysis and technical reporting
- Develop repair, maintenance, lifecycle and upgrade strategies
- Oversee and support capital works and asset replacement planning
- Manage and mentor a small team of Surveyors and QS/Estimators
- Help prepare project briefs, specifications, scopes and tender documentation
- Support procurement, tender evaluation and contractor selection
- Work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver estate, safety and compliance objectives
Essential Requirements
- RICS Chartered Building Surveyor – mandatory
- Strong experience in building construction, fabric and building services
- Excellent understanding of CDM Regulations
- Experience leading or managing a small surveying or technical team
- Confident stakeholder manager with the ability to influence at senior levels
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of procurement/tender processes
- Flexibility for national travel, including overnight stays
Highly Advantageous Experience
- Government or public sector estates
- MoJ, MoD, defence or justice environments
- Custodial, secure, detention or critical operational sites
- PFI/PPP or complex FM‑led estates
