The Role
We are hiring a Junior Engineer to join our engineering team. You will work alongside experienced engineers to help build the APIs, services and systems that power our products.
This is a great first or second role for someone with solid fundamentals who is keen to learn. You will ship real code to real AI products from day one, with the support and guidance to do it well.
What You Will Do
Help build and maintain backend services and APIs in Python.
Contribute to the microservices that support our AI-powered products.
Write clean, tested and documented code.
Deploy and manage services on Google Cloud (GCP and Kubernetes), with guidance from senior engineers.
Use logging and monitoring tools to help troubleshoot issues in live services.
Collaborate with engineers, designers and product managers.
Take part in code reviews, stand-ups and team discussions.

Essential Requirements
Some hands-on backend experience with Python, including a basic understanding of REST APIs.
Exposure to at least one cloud platform, preferably GCP.
Experience with at least one of PostgreSQL, MongoDB or Redis.
Comfortable using Git and working as part of a team.

What We Offer
We do focused, high-quality work for customers who depend on us, and we believe that sustainable performance needs genuine rest. That’s why we’ve built one of the most generous working patterns in the industry:
Four-day weeks in July, August and December. Every Friday off, all month.
Last Friday of every month off. January to June and September to November, the last Friday is a company day off.
3pm finishes on every other Friday.
That adds up to roughly 22 extra days off a year, plus the equivalent of about 8 more days in early finishes. In total, that’s around 30 days back on top of your annual leave.
