Whiteshield combines artificial intelligence with economic expertise to solve real policy challenges. Our AI Economics unit transforms complex data into actionable insights that shape how governments and businesses design policies, manage resources, and plan for growth.
As a Full-Stack Developer in Whiteshield’s AI Economics Unit, you will build and scale modern, data-intensive web applications that power our policy advisory products and decision-support platforms. You will deliver end-to-end features across the stack, shipping Next.js/React front ends, Python (FastAPI) APIs, and PostgreSQL data models, while collaborating closely with economists, data scientists, and product teams to translate complex policy questions into intuitive, production-grade software. This role suits an engineer who is comfortable owning features from design through deployment, has strong product judgment, and cares about performance, reliability, and clean architecture. Familiarity with .NET/C# is appreciated, particularly for middleware and enterprise integration scenarios.
Whiteshield’s AI Economics Unit sits at the intersection of economic policy, data engineering, and applied AI. We design and deploy tools that help public-sector leaders understand economic systems, monitor outcomes, allocate budgets, and simulate policy scenarios using advanced analytics and machine learning.
Typical initiatives include:
- Interactive dashboards and decision platforms for ministries and public entities
- Data pipelines integrating administrative and alternative data sources
- Policy indices, forecasting models, and scenario simulators
- AI-enabled workflows, including LLM-assisted insights, with strong governance and security
You will:
- Own end-to-end feature delivery from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring
- Build high-quality front ends using Next.js and React, delivering responsive, accessible, and maintainable UI components
- Design and implement backend services using Python and FastAPI, including RESTful APIs, validation, and performance optimization
- Model, query, and optimize relational data layers in PostgreSQL, including schemas, indexing, migrations, and query tuning
- Work within a container-first development workflow, building and running services with Docker as a default
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate policy and analytics needs into robust technical solutions
- Implement authentication and authorization patterns such as OAuth2/JWT, role-based access, and audit-friendly logging
- Contribute to integration and middleware patterns; .NET/C# experience is a plus for service orchestration and interoperability
- Maintain strong engineering standards across code review, documentation, automated testing, and release hygiene
- Build and operate CI/CD workflows using Azure DevOps, with familiarity expected for pipelines, artifacts, and release processes
Requirements:
- 2 to 5 years of professional experience delivering full-stack web applications in production environments
- Strong proficiency with React and Next.js, including modern routing patterns, component design, and state management
- Strong backend development skills with Python, ideally using FastAPI or equivalent frameworks
- Solid experience with SQL and relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL
- Hands-on experience with Docker for local development and deployment workflows
- Working familiarity with Azure DevOps and DevOps pipelines, including CI/CD concepts and practical usage
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail across security, performance, and UX
- Fluency in English; Spanish and Arabic are assets
Nice to have:
- .NET / C# experience, especially for middleware, integration services, and enterprise deployments
- Experience with cloud environments such as Azure or GCP
- Experience with observability tooling, including structured logging, metrics, and tracing
- Familiarity with data engineering practices such as ETL/ELT workflows and analytics-ready schemas
- Exposure to integrating AI/LLM capabilities into products, including secure API usage and retrieval/embedding patterns
- Experience implementing UI from Figma and using modern CSS approaches such as TailwindCSS
Benefits:
- Equal Opportunity and Inclusion: We are committed to an inclusive workplace where diverse perspectives are valued.
- Impact at Scale: Build products that support high-stakes public-sector decision-making and economic policy delivery.
- High Ownership Environment: Take meaningful responsibility in a fast-moving unit with strong engineering standards.
- Hybrid Flexibility: A working model designed to support sustainable delivery and high performance.
- Growth and Recognition: We support development through mentorship, challenging work, and clear progression opportunities.
