Principal Electrical Engineer – Infrastructure Projects | Up to £100K + Car Allowance
We’re looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer with a passion for driving projects from design through to commissioning, ensuring top standards in safety, quality, and compliance.
What you’ll do:
- Lead electrical engineering across all project stages: tender, design, installation, testing, commissioning & handover
- Manage and mentor a talented team of engineers, designers & BIM/CAD techs
- Deliver high & low-voltage designs (up to 33kV) — lighting, UPS, switchboards, VSDs & more
- Conduct thorough design reviews, ensuring buildability and compliance
- Collaborate on PLC control systems (SCADA, BMS) and contribute to safety studies (HAZID, HAZOP, HAZCON)
- Oversee project documentation and coordinate with on-site teams to resolve issues
- Support tenders and liaise with manufacturers to ensure product suitability
You’ll bring:
- HNC in Electrical Engineering + Chartered status (or working towards it)
- Infrastructure experience (Rail, Highways, Power, Water, Highways)
- Strong knowledge of electrical installations, legislation & design standards
- Skilled with Amtech/Trimble, Cymap, AutoCAD/Microstation
- Experience with low-to-medium voltage systems
- Leadership, communication & team management skills
- SMSTS and/or CSCS card & UK driving licence
