We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join an International M&E Contractor, specialising in Infrastructure Projects in the Rail, Highways, Water & Energy sectors. A combination of site and office based, you will oversee the engineering process from design to installation, testing, and commissioning, ensuring that all aspects meet HSE, quality, programme, and compliance standards.

The role will require you to undertake Mechanical design review in line with current standards to ensure buildability and constructability. Where required you will also undertake Mechanical designs (tunnel ventilation, HVAC, pumped systems etc) including design checks. This role involves working closely with the construction team and liaising with key stakeholders, to ensure the successful delivery of either Mechanical or Public Health systems.

A varied role your duties will include:

  • Undertake Mechanical design review in line with current standards and to ensure buildability and constructability.
  • Ensure design risk assessment is compliant with installation parameters.
  • Provide engineered solutions to key project problems to satisfy clients expectations and budget considerations.
  • Undertake direct liaison with CAD team to ensure correct drawing modelling, to BIM or other standards.
  • Review drawings for clash detection and other interface problems.
  • Develop scope documents for tenders and procurement processes.
  • Liaise with manufacturers to determine product suitability, in partnership with procurement.
  • Attend FAT and SAT (and any other required stage) to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Liaise with installation teams to ensure design suitability, works methodology and solve key installation issues/constructability.
  • Liaise with commercial department to track design change and variances.
  • Liaise with the planning department to plan installations.
  • Oversee subcontractor works as appropriate including assisting commercial department in valuation and contract support.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Mechanical Engineering qualification.
  • Knowledge of relevant Mechanical installations legislation and standards, BIM and design modelling standards.
  • Experience of working on Infrastructure or Utilities Projects such as Rail, Airports, Highways, Power Stations, Water, Oil & Gas.
  • SMSTS and/or CSCS Card.
  • Managed Mechanical Installations incorporating Mechanical or Public Health systems (i.e. HVAC, fire-rated ductwork, potable water, drainage systems).
  • Be proficient in MS Office and scheduling tools (MS Project or P6).
  • Have undertaken reviews of Mechanical Services Designs to ensure buildability.
  • When required, undertaken Mechanical services design.
  • A Driving Licence.
