Whitehouse is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic associate consultant to join its fast-growing EU team. At Whitehouse Communications, we specialise in integrated communications campaigns across public affairs, policy analysis, media relations and crisis communications to engage with decision makers in the EU and the UK to shape issues’ agenda. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a keen interest and experience in EU politics and public affairs and the evolving relationship between the EU and the UK to develop their career in a leading public affairs and communications agency, supporting our international team. Whitehouse operates a hybrid working policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Political intelligence and policy analysis: Provide high quality monitoring and analysis on European Institutions work, consultations and press releases and analyse relevance for clients, circulating information internally as appropriate and advising on next steps; Responsibility for researching and drafting weekly or regular insights documents and emails to clients (in the financial services, digital and food & sustainability sectors), and seeing through agreed action as required; monitoring the evolving relationship between the EU and the UK and regulatory divergence.
  • Stakeholder mapping and outreach: Preparing and updating stakeholder lists and acting as a central reference point for all databases and contact lists; Drafting correspondence to MEPs, Commission officials, Permanent Representations and Member State competent authorities; Scheduling meetings or conference calls between MEPs, officials and clients, and preparing briefing packs ahead of meetings; Attending client meetings with MEPs or officials alongside consultants, account managers or director level staff, recording notes and follow up actions, participating in discussions and advising the client as appropriate.
  • Research and analysis: Preparing background notes, detailed briefings, reports, articles, research papers and consultation responses for clients and in support of business development efforts in discussion with the consultants; Attending and providing reports on relevant external meetings.
  • Client liaison: Responsibility for monthly or quarterly reports and other client reporting where appropriate; Supporting internal communications where our role is to provide Secretariat services to a trade body or other coalition of companies and organisations.
  • Events organisation: Supporting on the delivery of events such as seminars, webinars and roundtable discussions.
  • Thought leadership, social media and media relations: Supporting our communications team promote Whitehouse via blogs, social media and other activities.

Background, skills and competencies:

  • Graduated in a relevant field such as European studies, political science or other relevant field;
  • Demonstrable experience within the European Institutions and/or in a Public Affairs consultancy;
  • Excellent spoken and written English (Native-speaker level or equivalent), any other languages are considered an asset;
  • Excellent writing skills and willingness to contribute to Whitehouse own PR via blogs, articles and social media activity.
  • The ability to understand, digest and summarise complex information quickly and effectively;
  • Experience of providing a legislative and policy monitoring service;
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload;
  • Proactive and dynamic person with excellent personal skills and a can do attitude;
  • Hands-on mentality, able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and willing to pursue additional responsibility within the team;
  • Sound interest in food policy, public health, human rights, sustainability, and digital policies.
